How to stop mic from picking up background noise?
I recently bought a Rode VideoMic (http://rodemic.com/microphone.php?product=VideoMic) for filming. The mic seems to pic up sounds from behind and directly to the sides of it. I want to be able to film and not have to worry about the picking up any noise made by the camera operator or any other noises coming from behind. And yes, I know that getting the mic off the camera and onto a boom is ideal, but sometimes it isn't an option. I was just wondering if there is anyway to change this? Maybe something i could make?? I originally though of some type of conic shield I could attach to the base of the mic to filter out sounds coming from those directions. I don't know if that would work, and if it could, what would be ideal to make it out of to prevent the sounds from transferring from the shield to the mic itself. Well if anyone could help I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks a lot.
